Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says it will not be easy to find a coach capable of creating a team from the talented
individuals in his squad.
''The club have developed a system in which we have made talent our priority and there aren't many
coaches around who are capable of administrating that talent,'' Perez said in an interview with Telemadrid yesterday.
''Real Madrid has to have a team that not only wins, but also provides spectacle and entertainment.
''The person who coaches Real Madrid needs to be disciplined, rigorous and professional. Coaching a collection of talented
players isn't easy as they have a lot of personality and it is an art to make them play together.
''I will continue looking for a suitable coach until I find one.'' Five coaches have sat in the Real Madrid dug-out since Vicente del Bosque was discarded two and a half years ago and the club have failed to win a major trophy.
The latest incumbent is former reserve team coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro who took charge on a caretaker basis last week following the sacking of former Brazilian Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
Perez said he would discuss Lopez Caro's future at the end of the year, though he did not rule out the possibility of him remaining as coach in the longer term.
''The board decided that Lopez Caro would replace Luxemburgo on a provisional basis and they will meet again at the end of the year to analyse the situation,'' Perez said.
''You can never predict what will happen in the world of football. Lopez Caro is a club man and he has done an extraordinary job with the reserve team and we have decided to give him our confidence.'' Spanish media have also been speculating about players that could join the club in the January transfer window, with former Manchester United captain Roy Keane and AS Roma forward Antonio Cassano topping the potential list.
Perez played down talk about Keane, however, and dismissed the possibility of any players leaving the club midway through the season.
''No one has talked about the matter (signing Keane) and we aren't going to until after our next two matches,'' he said. ''If we signed all the players the press said we are interested in then we would have a squad of 60 players.
''I don't know any player who would not like to come to Real Madrid, but they all want to appear in the papers and then believe that when they do they are going to sign for Madrid.
''The experience I have shows that no one leaves the club in December and that we have only ever signed one player then and that is (Thomas) Gravesen.''
