DUBAI: Exiled former Pakistan Premier Nawaz Sharif has said he had taken responsibility for some
military generals' "mess-up"
in Kargil in the "best interest" of the nation and that he would soon reveal the truth in "in-camera proceedings".
"I will reveal the truth soon but in in-camera proceedings. In fact, I had taken responsibility for some
military generals' mess-up in Kargil on my shoulder in the best interest of the nation," Sharif said in an interview to Gulf News .
Sharif had earlier said that he came to know about invasion of Kargil by Pakistani troops after he received a phone call from then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Kargil episode took place when General Pervez Musharraf was the Chief of Army in 1999. "In fact, Musharraf breached his oath as Army Chief when he (had) overthrown my government through a military coup in October 1999," Sharif said.
Sharif, the chief of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and another former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, the leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), met in Dubai on Friday to discuss strategies to involve other political parties in their historic 'Charter of Democracy' they signed in London last month to oust military from politics.

meeting," said Bhutto, who met Sharif at a dinner in Emirates Hill in Dubai.
Sharif told the newspaper that he had discussed with Bhutto the outline of the ARD meeting.
"After presenting the charter in the ARD meeting, we are planning to present it to other parties in a proposed All Parties Conference," he said.
Sharif said the current government in Pakistan led by a military ruler, President Pervez Musharraf, cannot stop him from coming back to the country before the 2007 general elections.
