OBJECTIVE:To investigate the condition of antibiotic drugs used in the outpatient department of pediatrics;To improve reasonable
ultilization of antibiotic drugs in the clinics. METHOD:11 703 cases were randomly selected from all prescriptions made in July,August and September of 2003 We calculated the percentage of antibiotic drugs in total numbers of prescriptions and chose combinations of two kinds of oral antibiotic drugs and injectable ones.We statisticed the categories of combinations of antibiotic drugs which were most often used. RESULTS:Prescriptions containing antibiotics constituted 64 75% of the total prescriptions; oral antibiotic prescriptions constituted 34 99% of prescriptions containing antibiotics;injectable antibiotic prescriptions constituted 65 01% of prescriptions containing antibiotics. CONCLUSIONS:The rate of usage of antibiotics was quite high, their dosage was relatively large, a few cases of combined drug usage lack of theory basis,some of them are obviously unreasonable or even abused.
