This paper explains that the introduction of normative values into the practice of
engineering requires the application of
systems of ethics and ethical
principles to the process of
engineering practice and engineering management. The author believes that ethical principles create a framework that permits the anticipation of conflict in relation to proposed actions or decisions in a variety of situations. The author says that utilitarianism and deontology tend to command the greatest level of attention in ethical considerations involving the business and the economy.
