This paper describes Erich Fromm's perspective on freedom, love, dignity and
human nature. The paper explains that, in addition
to his professional training and personal philosophy, Fromm's life experiences contributed to his belief that
technology, while not a bad thing in itself, can be used in such a way to dehumanize and distort
human behavior when it falls into the hands of people who lose the desire to be free and then use that technology to spread their own philosophies.
