This paper discusses four different films, "Bound by Honor", "Beloved", "Lion of the Desert" and "Anna and the King". The
paper reviews each film in relation to its political and
cultural background, and to the emotions prevalent in each movie. The paper claims that cultural
oppression is a common theme in all four films. Using emotions as a tool for cultural change is described in the theme of how to overcome oppression.
