On October 2, 1952 the Chinese press - as evidenced in translated documents contained in the "Survey of the China Mainland
Press" - was preoccupied by the opening of the Asian-Pacific Peace
Conference in Peking (Beijing) almost to the exclusion of all other
issues. However, even in the press excerpts from this conference, a number of subsidiary issues can be seen to manifest themselves.
