This paper examines the essential role played by schools during the
mandatory drug
education week and generally in the fight
against youth drug abuse. It begins by examining whether the school-based drug
education programs are effective and why the traditional approaches failed. It discusses the need for intense and innovative programs and especially the importance of the mandatory drug education week.
