This paper examines the fields of scientific sociology and the broader field of
developmental studies, examining both similarities
and differences in the two fields. The paper explains that while the worlds of scientific
sociological investigation and
developmental studies are indeed closely related, the field of scientific sociology has yet to overcome a great deal of its "snobbery," before it can work effectively with the newer and broader field of developmental study.
