The
political fate of Kosovo is still unclear. Since June 1999 Kosovo is under the supervision of the international community. The Serbian state refuses to grant
independence to Kosovo while the ethnic Albanians in the area are either pro-independence or pro-union with Albania oriented. This
paper aims at estimating the current political and
economic situation in this region and at evaluating the EU involvement in Kosovo as a stabilization tool and trigger of reforms.
