The following paper takes the reader on an exploratory journey of an adolescent's struggle with ADHD and
substance abuse
disorder. The author discusses the intake interview, the admissions to the
treatment center, the assessment process, the treatment plan and the out patient treatment plan. The author contends that the symptoms of
substance abuse are so similar to the symptoms of untreated or under treated ADHD and thus as a result the client in the case study is asked to submit to random drug testing by his parents.
