This paper examines the book "Boys Will be Boys" by Myriam Miedzian which discusses why boys in contemporary America society
turn to violence so often. It looks at how Miedzian finds that what we call male behavior is accepted in society as the norm, as if males were violent by nature and so had to act out certain rituals as part of their genetic heritage. It examines how, although Miedzian believes that males are born with a certain predisposition toward violent behavior, external factors such as better
parenting and education do have an effect. It compares the views of Miedzian to that of other biological theorists on the
evolution of traits in mankind.
