This paper emphasizes the sequelae of
alcoholism in children with attention to the risk of repeated addiction and the very
high prevalence of
depression among the adult children of alcoholics who have often inherited a biochemical makeup rendering them prone to both
alcoholism and major depression according to athe author's contemporary model of dual diagnosis.
