John Stuart Mill and Karl Marx: Critics of the 19th Century

Book Summary by: AcaDemon

This paper shows how Mill developed the philosophy of utilitarianism, which based knowledge upon human experience and emphasized
the importance of human reason. Mill held that action had to depend on whether it would bring about happiness. For Mill, the human being was the initial criterion of society. Marx, meanwhile, argued that private property had to be abolished and that workers had to grab the means of production.
