A. Security
The security condition in Gayo Lues is generally secure and
controllable within this month. There is no serious incident happening during
this month except DPRK office that has been already sealed and blocked by ALA
(Aceh Leuser Antara) Province Formulation’s sympathizers since the mid of July
2008. There is no significant activity done at the office except the Setwan PNSs
looked to base and work at security post.
B. Kabupaten
Recovery Forum & Joint Secretariat
a. 10 unit computers donated by
BRR for Gayo Lues District Government arrived in Blangkejeren on 20 August 2008
at 01.30 p.m. bought by Nazaruddin, Asset Management Senior Staff of BRR and
received by Kabag Umum Setdakab Gayo Lues, Aliasan, SE, M.Sc. The computers
planned to be used for KRF CRC. The
meeting between BRR party and Kabag Umum was facilitated by UNORC KRF Gayo Lues
team. BRR team left Blangkejeren to Kutacane at 02.50 p.m. for Southeast Aceh
District computers delivery.
b. UNORC KRF Gayo Lues team met
Bupati Gayo Lues, H. Ibnu Hasim, at Bupati’s Pendopo at 04.40 p.m. on 20 August
2008. The team explained about KRF and identified Bupati’s priorities. The
Bupati said that Gayo Lues District really prioritizes 6 sectors/sub-sector,
they are Education (University Level, there is no university in Gayo Lues at
this moment yet), roads development, lahan
tidur (unattended land), conservation, irrigation, and electricity. There
is also Mr. Ghazali form BRR Central Asset Management. The team also said that
within these early days general coordination meeting will be held. The Bupati
agreed and suggested that this meeting should be held together with inter-dinasses
evaluation meeting because at that time, all head of dinasses will attend the
meeting.
C. Sectoral Updates
a. Peace and
Reintegration
BRA Gayo Lues had
built 50 houses for conflict-affected victims in previous conflict era. The
details of location and beneficiaries could be seen on the attached file.
