In an attempt to prevent anymore wardrobe malfunctions, organisers of the Super Bowl Halftime show have once again turned to seasoned professionals to handle the job of entertainment for the highly anticipated event.
Last year it was Sir Paul McCartney, this year it will be another English band, The Rolling Stones. Don’t get me wrong, I happen to like a few of the Rolling Stones’ hits such as ‘Start Me Up’ and ‘Angie’ just to name a couple.
Even though England and The US have been allies in the political arena for decades, what does it say when an American sporting event organisers have to seek elsewhere for the performance of a decent halftime show? No wardrobe malfunctions included.
It might speak volumes, for there are quite a number of decent American pop/rock bands and solo performers from which to choose, providing of course they are available for the event. Groups and solo performers such as The Eagles, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow just to name a few.
They are professionals who will also draw an audience, the same way Mick Jagger and his group can. On a personal note, it’s just too bad the Super Bowl Halftime Show organisers have to look so far and wide for its entertainment when there are so many decent professionals on its own soil who can fill the same void, without adding any more wardrobe malfunctions or embarrassing incidents to the show.
