Susan Smart methodically drove her car with her two sons in the back seat to a lake. There she prepared the sedan to drive itself into the water. Her pair of youngsters sat strapped into car seats unaware of their demise. Ms. Smart held no compassion or love for her
children as she watched the automobile go deeper and deeper under water. She coldly and maliciously stood and observed her act. Susan Smart then proceeded to spin a web of lies bring sympathy from an entire nation. Her tears of anguish did not however fool everyone.
Days later it came out she had deliberately killed her sons to win over a boyfriend. Tragically though the man was not all that interested to begin with. The image of four little hands pressed against back door windows will be a constant reminder of her actions. Today Susan Smart sits in a dry clean jail cell. Her children lie in a grave.
And just the other day Andrea Yates was
granted a
new trial because of a fluke in the
law. All she did was one by one drown her five children. The reason for her behavior, post partum depression. She just could not take it anymore. She attempted to convince a judge of her insanity and lost. The only cause for a new trial was testimony about a bogus episode of Law and Order on television.
Granted Ms Yates is in a mental hospital but that does not bring back five innocent victims. It is time for
people seeing such bizarre attitudes of others towards their children and stop remaining silent. Maybe if someone had spoken up sooner about Andrea's off the wall mood swings those children would be alive still.
God does not
kill children. He gives them to us as a gift to guide and nurture. They are not pawns in a relationship or thorw away items like paper towels. God does not kill chilren, People do.
