Some Women Get Bored Too

Book Summary by: JudyRamsook

Original Author: Judy Ramsook
For years people have been trying to control the things and people around them. If, for example, some one acquires a pet,
he has it trained so it could be easier to manage. Similarly, if one becomes a leader of a nation, he does certain things in order to keep his citizens under control
In some countries of the world, mention the phrase under control and most women will say little or nothing. They know all too well what it means to be controlled. For they have been brought up to believe that the only things they are capable of are giving birth and taking care of the home. It's also supposed to keep them in line. A few of those women probably want to do more because they know they have the potential to be productive elsewhere such as the work place.
The thing is, some of these women are probably afraid to speak up because in some of these third world societies, men are firmly in control. Any woman who breaks away from that is suddenly viewed as a strange person.
American author of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan, was one of those women who let the world know how how frustrated some women were as they were supposed to find total happiness from child rearing and being the wives their husbands wanted them to be. Now there are a few women in our midst who have found fulfillment in doing just that, and if those women are happy that is great.
Some people will argue that certain forms of chivalry died when an abundance of women decided they did not want to stay at home and become just mothers to their kids and wives to their husbands.
A few of these women who thought they could fulfill other voids outside the home front, tried to do just that. In opposition, some persons who wanted to keep these women in their place did not like that move. They thought it would have influenced other women who were already complacent with their homely way of life to want to do otherwise.
It’s funny how things have suddenly changed at this time in life. For now with higher living standards and inflation, some families would not make it if the wife/mother figure did not have a decent enough job so she could assist her husband with some of the household and living expenses.
Men are born with rights they don’t even know they have until they have reached a reasonably sound age when they become aware of such rights. In some societies in the world, if a man wants to go out for a few hours with his friends as opposed to staying at home with his wife and kids, that is deemed appropriate behaviour.
If a woman wants to do the same thing with her friends, she can be suddenly viewed as being a bad person. For as long as the kids are at home, so should she be too. Betty Friedan may have made others aware of something that may have emerged sooner or later; an awareness that sometimes some women can find fulfillment in other things.
And just like that extremely intelligent kid who becomes bored sitting in a class that is not viewed as a challenge for him, so do some women also become bored when all they are doing is house cleaning, and taking care of the kids and husband day after day after day.
