Of all the wonders of this world...of all the marvels of communication, the most appealing are words Without words we are as helpless as a day without sunshine or the night without the stars! Words form an essential form of communication...they not only carry meaning but also significance...whether written or spoken. Writing as a form of communication is probably not as old as the spoken word, but it most definitely is an effective form of communication. Writing holds greater significance than the spoken word because the spoken word can be forgotton, if it is not recorded.
Through the ages there have been many famous writers ...all of whom have written on subjects as varied as astronomy, culture, history and in fact on anything under the sun...and beyond it.... Some have simply let their imagination flow to encompass and express the deepest desires, fears and hopes of men and women.
Writing as an art is very much as interesting as the other forms of art like drama, sculpture, painting, dance and music. It can perhaps be called the most popular of these arts, simply by the abundance and practice of it. It is everywhere...in every book, scripture, poem or prayer...
It is often said that the pen is mightier than the sword. Indeed many battles have begun or ended on paper...we have numerous records of it in history. Man's constant thirst for knowledge and his desire to achieve more than he has got shall always keep the doors open to more writing and more expressions of words.
On a different, more romantic note how often do we invest in greeting cards or write love notes or poems to woo our beloved? The word if expressed beautifully can indeed become a source of much pleasure and comfort. Indeed in today's tecnology savey age, I am sure more time is spent in typing love messages on the internet and on mobile phones than in verbaly expressing one's feelings...there simply is no doubt to the value and pleasure of the written word.
