EQUALITY MUST FOR OVERALL DEVELOPMENT
The term ‘Equality’ itself is a positive one. The meaning of the term equality
is the condition of being equal between two or more, with person etc. This single
positive term plays a vital role in expediting progress of a nation speedily and more accurately. It applies to family, society and a nation as a whole. For proper functioning of a family, the role of equality is proved to be vital. If the head of the family tries to have a common rule, to be applied for each and every members of the family, it yields positive response due to its equal benefit for all. Any attempt to revert to it would lead to a chaotic situation. The members of the family will feel partiality due to inequality because the very tendency of human being is intolerance and jealous to one another. Take the example of a family ceremony, where father having three children purchases different priced ornaments for his children. Even though they will show their satisfaction due to fear or respect towards their father, inside discontentment will persist. The congregation of this type of small dissects will lead to a big bang in future, causing vast disapproval amongst themselves.
Let us think of a society, where eminent personalities have certain responsibilities on their shoulder. The society consists of many categories of people. They belong to different castes and creeds. They have to perform their rituals according to their religion. But at the same time they should consider other aspects, especially whether it is interfering the basic rights of the people belonging to other castes and creeds. They should try to keep it within the ambit of their rights. It should always be noted that any activity within the purview of the rights is treated as fundamental right. The moment it interferes with others
activities or fundamental rights, it stands null and void. Therefore, in order to bring about equality amongst them, the heads of the society should try to make them understand their sphere of activities.
Similarly, the heads of the countries should endeavour to bring equality amongst all the citizens of the country. There must not be any discrepancy. The citizens should be treated equally in every respect. The head of the country should atleast make all citizens realize that they are being treated equally. Now a day it is found that Governments are trying to uplift the weaker sections of the society by giving certain facilities to them. But this gives a wrong message to the rest of the people. By giving some facilities to a particular group of people is no doubt creates discrepancies amongst rest of the people. The people who are treated unequally will certainly be reluctant to take part in the developmental activities of the country. Thereby, the whole network for speedy development of a nation is interrupted. It is certainly a river looses its main target of emerging into the sea.
