Do we have to do Health Checkups?
Diseases do not occur all of a sudden but may take weeks to many months to manifest
as noticeable symptoms. We usually consult a doctor when we are ill.
But Prevention is better than Cure hence we should closely monitor our health by doing regular health checkups. The need of these health checkups and their frequency depends mainly on the medical history of the person and his/her family medical history. For many medical conditions regular health checkups provides early diagnosis and early treatment and can prevent a tragedy.
Regular health checkups should consists of the following tests:
Lipid Profile: Helps to avoid major heart problems and other vascular disorders.
Liver Function Test: Helps in evaluation of the functions of Liver, which is the main organ of metabolism.
Renal Profile: Helps in evaluation of the functions of Kidney, which is vital to keep us healthy.
Anemia Profile: To rule out the possibility of anemia, which can make one weak and tired.
Thyroid Profile: Helps in evaluation of the functions of Thyroid gland, which is vital for body metabolism.
Diabetic Profile: To get an early insight on the diabetic status.
Infectious Disease Profile: Hepatitis B surface Antigen, which is the leading cause of liver disorders world wide and HIV I & II.

All these health checkup reports are to be interpreted by a Doctor and his advice taken for any course of action.
