Government now has paid attention to amenity city as well as researcher and society, but they mostly think much of the concept
of amenity city. The author points out that we should make the meaning of amenity city clear, quantify its index system and confirm its
construction orientation and developmental steps. Based on relevant research accumulation of theory and practice of urban construction and the concept of “a city for people”, the paper does research on
evaluative content, index system design and evaluative methods of residential environment in inner cities. The paper focuses on the evaluative framework of 5 index systems, which include Convenience, Amenity, Health, Safety and Community, and discusses how to gather data and select Economical Value Evaluation, GIS tools and econometric estimation as three main evaluative methods.
