AIM:To study the general administration of fufang
hongqi jianfang on the basis that extract of fufang hongqi fang is effective
on the regeneration of peripheral nerves.METHODS:Thirty male SD rats were randomly divided into control group(group N),fufang hongqi fang group(group Q) and fufang hongqi jianfan group(group S) following bilateral sciatic nerves were injured by clamp. The rats in the three
groups were perfused with normal saline,2 mL extract from fufang hongqi fang and 2 mL extract from fufang hongqi
jianfang respectively every day,and then were fed under the same condition for 6 weeks to observe the functional indices of sciatic nerves and the count of myelinated nerve fibers per visual field.RESULTS:The functional indices of sciatic nerves were higher in the group S(-19.110 5±9.104 8) than in the group Q(-30.270 0±10.800 1),showing significant difference between the two groups(P=0.03),while there was no significance between the control group and the group Q or group S(P >0.05).The number of myelinated nerve fibers was(112.33±17.99) per visual field in the group G and(109.26±15.73) per visual field in the group S,both higher than in the control group<(75.77±14.36) per visual field>(P=0.000),but there was no significant difference between the groups G and S. CONCLUSION:Fufang hongqi jianfang can facilitate the regeneration of peripheral nerves,but has no significant difference with fufang hongqi fang on the curative efficiency.
