There is a companion volume of this paper, which consists of three sections:(1) What is language researches in orbit round philosophy of the West; (2)How linguistic researches help philosophers do their jobs in three aspects; (3)How we unscramble the philosophical connotation hidden in such concrete items of linguistic researches as truth, meaning, speech acts, reference, proper names, propositions, metaphors and nature of language and so on. This paper continues to discuss the missing parts of (3), while focusing our thoughts on the very sticking point that ① some Chinese linguists are puzzled by the motivation for philosophers of the West to undertake linguistic researches, asking why philosophers of the West have turned their profession to linguistic researches, and ② some Chinese linguists are unable to decode the philosophical connotation in the research achievements of western philosophers, wondering whether there is any dim connection between the linguistic items and philosophy.
