Influence of Cinema on Society

Article Summary by: Gokul

Original Author: R.C. Gokulkrishnan
The mass media "cinema" has influenced very badly on the youngsters of the society. The winning formula for a successful
cinema is the story on a gangster, rowdy, bandit, or rebel with an "item" song and two fights. The way the hero portrays in the film will be in the third rate of the social behavior (Tamil movies). In the attitude of the hero throughout the film, he will not show any respect to any individual. As these film stars have got a huge number of fan followers, the attitude portrayed by the hero in the film will be seriously followed by the fan followers also in their real-life situations.
Not only the uneducated fans of these so-called cine stars but also the educated group of the cine viewers do follow the stupidious mannerisms that these reel-heros portray in the screen. In most of the situations, the fans will tend to follow the stunts they see in their favorite hero''s movie performed in front of the heroine. The worst part of it is, the fans will copy the stunt performed with the two-wheeler and try to do that in the middle of the city traffic. This is just an example how the cinema has affected the society. Very silently, through other means, the cinema paved way to the destruction of our culture also.
Tamil culture is well known for respecting women as mother and sisters. This attitude was entirely collapsed by the way the present day tamil movies taken. In the early days of the tamil movies, women characters used to appear in the screen with sarees coverin the entire body without exposing anything. But nowadays, the cheapest expense for the producer is the costume for the heroine. A political party created a big scene that the Tamil''s culture was affected very badly because of the interview of heroines. The big wonder is they admit seeing the heroines with minimal costume in the screen, at times the awkward movements in the songs, they never asked to ban portraying women badly in the screen. To bring about change in the society regarding the polite behavior of the youngsters, the political stand on the creation of movie has to be reconsidered. Will it be done?
