Benjamin Franklin has rightly said, "When you are good to others you are best to
yourself."
A pleasing personality is a gift of nature. It is like the sweet fragrance of a flower or like the dew drops on leaves during early morniong, sweet and soothing. It is reflected in a person''''s attitude, behaviour and expression. It would make a person charismatic and help him win friends and enlist others'''' co-operation.
Very often, we forget that
life is an echo. We receive what we give. The story of cub Samba would enlighten us. Once Samba went to the river and looked down. He was amazed to see another similar cub below the river. He looked at it and came back running to the mother tiger. "I saw a baby tiger in the river. It looked just like me," Samba told his mother in suprise. Samba''''s mother understood----it was it own reflection. She thought of a plan to teach Samba a small lesson for life. "Would you like to be friends with the other cub? She asked Samba. Samba said, "Yes, but what about him? Would he be my friend?" was Samba''''s reply. Samba''''s mother told him to go to the river and look down at the other cub and smile at him. Samba went to the river and smiled at the reflection.
He came back running happily and told his mother, "When I smiled at it, the cub smiled back at me. We are friends now mother!" This taught him a lesson ----- life is like an echo. We get back what we give.
Being successful in our job is not everything.
True success comes when you are successful as a person as well. Some people never lose their attractiveness regardless of age, because it flows both from the face and heart.
We always see the world not the way it is, but the way we are. There is a story about two girls who were newcomers in the same class.
The first girl asked a
student, "How are the
teachers in the school?" That student asked her, "What kind of teachers were there in your previous school?" She replied, "They are rude and unfriendly." The student said that this school had similar kind of teachers. A few days later the other new girl asked the same question to the same student. The student asked her, "What kind of teachers did you have in your previous school?" The girl replied, "They were kind and gentle." The student told her that this school too had similar teachers.
Most of the time, other people''''s behaviour is a reaction to our own. To make others happy, the most important thing is to be happy ourselves. Who wouldn''''t like to be friendly to a person who has a smile on his face and a gentle approach towards others?
Cheerfulness flows from goodness. It is a known fact that, it takes more muscles to frown than to smile. Yes, it is easier to smile than to frown. It improves our face value! A smile is contagious and it is an inexpensive way to improve looks. A smiling face is always welcome.
For a pleasing personality, it is important to choose one''''s words carefully. A person who says what he likes usually ends up saying what he doesn''''t like. Therefore it is important to think before speaking. Words reflect attitude. Words can hurt feelings and destroy relationships. More people have been hurt more by painful words than by natural disasters. "A fool speaks withop;nblso reflected by the way we interpret others. At times we impose a negative interpretation on others'''' actions or their inaction. By starting on a positive note, we have a chance of building a pleasing personality resulting in good relationships.
we also need to be good listeners. Listening indicates caring. When you display a caring attitude towards another person, you make the other person feel important.
"An open ear is the only believable sign of an open heart," say
David Augsburger.
Lastly, be honest and appreciate others. One of the deepest desires of human beings is the desire to be appreciated. The feeling of being unwanted is rather painful.
Sincere appreciation is one of the greatest gifts one can give to a person. With such a personality, one can never be a failure in life.
