'Newfie Priest' is a work of fiction about an Anglican Priest in Newfoundland in the 1950's,
who while studying for the Ministry had an affair and the girl became pregnant. She wasn't interested in marrying the theological student but did have the baby and placed it in an orphanage in St. John's. The two stopped seeing each other and eventually the student was ordained and married someone else. After ten years of serving as a priest, his past catches up with him and he is asked to leave the parish in disgrace. He did see his son occasionally in the orphanage and watched him grow up over the years but never offered to adopt him until he was found out. He kept the secret from his wife and told the lad he was his uncle and that his parents had been killed in an accident. The boy's mother went on to marry someone else and never visited him. What follows is a spiritual journey whereby the Omniscient Father wheels his wayward priest into the operating room of life where he is forced to come to grips with his fornication and grow through his post-operative complications. 'Newfie Priest' is a moving and gripping story with some of the conversations told in delightful Newfoundland dialect and vivid descriptions of Newfoundland culture on the east coast of Canada. The book is geared for Newfies Adrift as many Newfoundlanders have left their province over the years and are now living in different parts of the world. Publishers are Trafford Publishing in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
