With the beeping of Yonten''s alarm my sleep gets invaded. The weather is cold outside, i curl myself in an attempt
to cover myself with the thin eskimo blanket. The day is here, yet another! Through the
window i see the clouds drifting and the thick fog enveloping the whole of Thimphu town. I don''t feel like getting up at all but the thought of my job compels me. I get up and go to the window. From the window opened ajar i see soft drizzling of rains. The rain falls hitting the zinc sheet, the hard surface refracts the tiny drops of rain into thousand of its type. The droplets find their final rest right infront of my nose sending a shiver throughout my tiny body.
I gather myself and make my way to the kitchen. On opening the kitchen door the cold gust of wind greets me and forces its way into my lungs. I sort of like the feeling of cold wind on my body, so make no attempt to wear anything warmer. I switch on the water boiler and retrace my steps back to the window. My apartment
looks so empty and so is my heart, a feeling of lonelines surges from within. This feeling is not new to me, i realise it has always been there but the morning today stirred the subdued feelings again bringing floods of memories. I don''t know how long i stayed there lost in my thoughts trying to figure out where i went wrong and will i ever get a second chance in life to tell my loved ones how much incomplete i am without them. But the the siren of water boiling indicates me i have been too long for sure! My body feels cold, the goose bumps on my arms and cheeks like the grams soaked in water for days. The rain has stopped but the refracted fragments of rain are still on my face and hands.
On pouring the hot water into a big cup of mine gifted to me by my cousin who lays now fast asleep in his cosy bed i envy him for the looks on his face portrays peace and contenment. My life once used to be a perfect one, with frens around, family to support me and a hand to hold unto. Now it all seems like a dream from which i woke up. Every day i think to find out why am i alone!!! My cell rings, i grasp it and answer hello! From the other end i hear a whisper, it''s me Asha. Something warm spreads over my eyes, i can see nothing clearly. It was my sister settled abroad...atleast one remembers me......
