Eliminating Pigpen Smell with a Bacterium Teodorico Magda teodoricomagda@yahoo.com
A Japanese pig raiser residing in the Philippines has found a better way of eliminating bad odor in pigpen with an air-borne
bacterium.
Kotaro Nishiki uses a strain of bacterium called
lactobacilli to eliminate the usual foul smell. Kotaro cultures his bacterium using soybean mass as substrate. He gets
lactobacilli from the air and raises it anaerobically. His culture yields two parts: the solid and the liquid. The latter serves as a starter, which he further multiplies in fresh or skim milk. This results in almost 100% pure
lactobacilli medium.
