A
farmer in the Philippines, Eddie Odsique, harvests much eggplant fruits without the benefit of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Instead of using the said chemicals, he plants marigold locally known as
Amarillo between eggplants, which keeps the plant insect-free. The vegetables are healthy and productive with no sign of insect
infestation. Marigold, having a
repelling odor, drives away most of the harmful insects in his garden. Amarillo with other repelling plant named gliricidia are used together by farmers as household repellants for mosquitoes and bedbugs.
