You are what you are
Is money indeed the biggest fancy of our times? Or has it
remained for years altogether?
I remember when my mother used to telling us how they could
buy loads of stuff with just a rupee. How happy the kids used to be on
receiving the paper covered sweets , the cream layered lassi and the hot piping
jalebis.
Today, they are mercilessly replaced by potato chips (making you a
couch potato), pizzas and Pepsi. They are undoubtedly the flavor of today. But
today things are not just rated by what you like or how passionately you feel
about possessing a certain item. It is about how costly that item is. It is
about how others stare in awe seeing your prized possession.
Indeed , we are so influenced by what others think about us.
As if we are living for others and not for ourselves. “The grass is always
green on the other side.” But there are famines on the other side too. We are
so blinded by false perceptions , so carried away by their criticisms and
admirations , so prejudiced by their highly rated opinions that we tend to
forget what we actually want to do.
I have always liked people who speak their mind. These
people do what they want and not because others want them to do a thing in a
certain way. They may not always be right but they know what they are doing. It
is their fearlessness and independence which makes me admire them. It is their
rationality in their ignorance and their sensibility in their rebellion that
makes them stand out from the rest.
One must always have faith in themselves. And you can
believe yourself if you have faith in yourself. Let yourself free and fly away!
Cherish your dreams and live your ambitions. Plan your designs and design your
plans.Remember, this is what you do because you feel you should; not because
some Tom,Dick or Harry expects you to do them. Be yourself and more importantly,
be true to yourself.
I used to always worry about what others would think about me.
I would get bugged by their comments. One important lesson : Never be too
elevated by your highs and never be too depressed by your lows. Remain calm and
composed for all situations alike. Never forget your friends , try to forgive
your enemies.
On an ending note, I would like to quote the following:
“It
is not your aptitude but your attitude
That
determines your altitude”
