Project managers spend ninety percent of the time in communication. Attending meetings, sharing news, ideas, and knowledge
with the employees consume lots of their time. Hence a project manager should be a good communicator. Project communications management is all about finding who needs what information and when and then plan accordingly to provide them such information. A successful communication includes generating, collecting, disseminating, and storing communication which comprises four processes.
A project manager needs to communicate with management, customers, the project team members, and the rest of the stakeholders involved with the project in order to complete the project. It
provides a critical link between people, ideas, and information at all stages in the project life cycle. An effective communication needs that the required information is reached to the appropriate people, and within stipulated time. This article on project communication focuses on how the project manager can identify the appropriate audiences, develop appropriate communication media, establish a communication schedule, and manage the flow of information in and out of the project team.
