Imagine an Old Age Home in India with:
- A nice room for 1 old person and he/she can stay there till he dies.
- In the campus - 100 such rooms so that old people have a community.
- One open air theater where a movie will be shown every week.
- A library having all the religious/spiritual books and daily newspapers and weekly magazines.
- A nice kitchen which will serve breakfast-lunch-dinner and tea in the afternoon with snacks. (considering old people''s habits to consume tea more - two extra teas in a day)
- A dispensary with two doctors and few nurses
- A laundry with washing/ironing facility
- A
small garden.
- A small TV in each room with connection to news channels and selected other channels.
- Monthly trip to a selected religious/spiritual
place or an outing.
All this for Rs. 5,000 per month!
Well this can be a heaven for the majority of Middle-Class old people in India if some one comes up with such an arrangement. Also in our ancient times - people after 60 years used to
start a life which led them more closer to God and in the process cut the worldly attachments. These kind of Old Age
Homes can help doing exactly that.
These kind of small townships are the order of the day because old people need not feel helpless in their own houses - they should be happy to start a new life at 60 without feeling a burden to their offsprings and what better place can be than such an innovative style of Old Age home?
If there are few rich people who take initiatives in India for such Old Age Homes in every city/village - lot of
young people will also get good jobs in these homes whereas old people will get a very comfortable life and also a community of like-aged people.
Can''t something be done in this direction?
