Thinking and Critical Thinking: o Thinking is an open ground while Critical Thinking is when you classify thinking into sub parts. Critical thinking is actually analyzing information critically. It is not actually criticizing as criticizing comes in negative thinking. It is to take the reasons of some outcome more seriously to get some useful reasoning. Like to get better result in future we should analyze the root cause of our failure. Say Mr. A failed in a subject. He then tried to think over the root cause of his failure. There are many barriers to Critical thinking. A few are listed below: Surrounding Distortion Emotional Influences Physical disturbance Religious Influences Geographical Influences 1- Surrounding Distortion: o Surrounding noise diminishes the concentration and spoils the spirit of critical thinking. It actually stops you in thinking and diverts your concentration to other surrounding happenings. § Like if a child is crying, definitely it diverts your attention and concentration. Same to TV noise. Emotional Influences: o Emotional influence is when one tries to come on some conclusion but emotionally he/she remains unable to think negative for his/her beloved personalities or causes. Say if we are told by the people about some unethical activity from any of our family member, we usually try not to accept the fault of our beloved ones. Physical disturbance: o Physical disturbance like headache/ stomachache or any other disorder that makes you feel uneasy also is a big reason of losing concentration and thinking analytically. Religious Influences: o People usually are not that open minded to think out of the box. Frankly speaking people get scared thinking about something that could be against their belief that they have been following since their birth and it is not that easy to think against such principles. Geographical Influences: o There are three factors involved in geographical influences. § Human nature doesn’t allow him to think again his nation and country. When it comes on International level we try to be the best nation say we pray for our country to win world cup while when we take it nationwide we try to fight for our province or city. § Secondly our geographical location actually influences our way of thinking. Say if a person belongs to Europe he is usually open minded and practical as compare to others. § Climate also influences the way of thinking that may result in different outcomes. Like people who live in hot countries are usually found low tempered. Their decisions are influenced by their temper.
