Inhuman acts of child abuse A sadist who commits the heinous act of raping, sodomizing and brutally murdering children
is not only a threat to society but also highly dangerous if allowed to live around after he is acquitted.Daily we come across various reports in the media about the barbaric ways small children have succumbed to violent deaths and tortured in the most beastly ways. Recently the case of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin was highlighted which mentioned the despicable acts of a serial rapist still at large. While we worry about convicting such sadists we must not forget that many such have in the past been acquitted or have acquired a lighter sentence , such as imprisonment for 15-20 years or tagged as insane and sent to an asylum for treatment.What is to happen when they are back in the
community with renewed energy to commit horrendous acts again? Firstly, a person committing such a brutal act cannot be mentally deranged. he is calculative and has studied every move of the victim before harming her. For that he has to be well in his senses. the police should not be lured by their defensive tactics of saying that " a voice commanded them to do so". Very often the perpetrators are belonging to our own neighbourhood. How often have we come across grandfathers raping their grandchildren, brothers molesting their sisters and so on. The people of every community need to be vigilant and be ready to nab such
offenders or report them to the authorities whenever possible. Every citizen needs to play their part by educating such offenders and showing them the difference between right and wrong. It is often seen that youth and the elderly actively participate in community events of religious nature, celebrations and festive occasions. Organizers of such events in the community must also include sessions and talks on moral values. Schools must punish those who encourage ,promote and distribute pornographic materials. Often the school authorities pay a deaf ear to what is going on in the vicinity of their compound, toilets etc. Moreover, parents tend to totally ignore their children due to work pressure. If a child at a young age is instilled with values and taught to respect women as their sister, mother and their teacher and not to be viewed as a sex object, then half the battle is won for when he grows into an adult, he will cherish those values and learn to give respect to the opposite sex. A child is easily influenced by the attitude of his parents towards each other. In a house where a woman is treated like a slave, an object of desire or as a subordinate such influences are likely to be inherited by a growing teenager.I strongly oppose those who blame the outfit of a woman to be the main cause of attraction to sex offenders. What about the innocent children? Can you blame them for enticing a sex offender! Therefore, i conclude that such offenders should not be let off easily! Maybe its time to implement - an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth!
