Where Has The Sanity Gone?

Article Summary by: Anonymous

Original Author: Tom Leslie
In our very complex world today, it is sad to see that logic and common sense are no longer at the forefront of human
society.  Instead, we see greed, selfishness, dishonesty, and downright stupdity.  For example, just recently a case involving a judge that was suing a laundry business for several, several millions of dollars for loosing his trousers.  Now, here is a man that has one of the most respected positions in America.  It takes education, intelligence, and other good character traits to become a judge.  It is not suprising to see a lack of good judgment from those who have no desire to rise to any decent standard of society, but it should never be the case with those who have put forth the effort to advance themselves in society by education, strong work ethics, and the desire not to be just average.  This is the kind of insanity that drives us insane!  I guess I will be blunt at this point and say this is stupidity "gone to seed!"  Why do people not want to reach solutions to problems without insisting it be their way only?  Yes, there may be times when there is only one solution, but why aren''t people more willing to find solutions rather than trying to get it their way.  Where is the sanity?  This type of thinking has led to the problem of "political correctness."  Yes we all should be working to live in peace and harmony and work together for the good of all.  But in our society it can''t always be that way.  There are times decisions have to be made for the majority rather than for some minority group.  By minority group I mean in number or beliefs.  Each situation should be looked at individually rather than with a cookie cutter mentality.  There may be times a minority group should win out in there situation, not always thinking that the majority ought to win.  Once again, cases should be view independently.  Too many times buzz words or catch phrases are used to try and push a particular agenda.  One that comes to mind is "tolerance."  Now there are those that speak loudly about everyone ought to be tolerant.  What do they mean by toloerant?  Are we just to accept anyone for any reason for the sake of being tolerant?  Unfortunately many of those yelling "tolerance" are the least tolerant.  What they want is to be able to say and do what they want, having everyone give into their beliefs and desires.  When it comes to be tolerant of others that disagree with them, or are seeking some action or result that differs from what they want, they are not so tolerant.  Those that talk about "free speech" often want to silence those who oppose them.  So where is the tolerance then?  People today are too selfish, greedy, and self-centered for their own good and the good of others.  It would be nice if the world would use logic and common sense.  We would have a better world if these to things were used more than the tongue.
