Based from the
viewed film entitled “And Daan Patungong Kalimugtong”, it was mixed emotions of compassion, love,
contentment, and gratitude domninated and filled out my heart. There was compassion in the sense that the poverty that the main characters, Jinky and Potpot suffered was upsurge. The film delivered the thought of loving unselfishly without mental reservation. love is indeed innate to the two. The gratitude and contentment harmoniously came up to my mind while watching the the film. We must thank God for helping us dealing with better ways of living which we should be
contented with.
Basically, comparing the lifestyles of those children to our ways of living in in someway different. We usually eat too much. We waste too much of our money out of our being spendthrift and passive. We became passive in the sense that we do not give notice to these kind of people who need proper education and enough welfare. We became very busy of things which we can actually live without. We became reluctant to help others and give even a little attention to those who really in need. Life is unfair as they say but I believe, we could make something to make it fair. In my case, I can barely have snack when I am in school because my allowance is basically just enough for the photocopy stuffs and compulsory things that my subjects require. I often fell life''s unfairness every time I see Students who are not working hard to reciprocate their parents'' endeavors for them to have better future. However,We are definitely lucky! We are fortunate to have the kind of lifestyle we have now. Although, at times we have lots of qualms to our parents because of their shortcomings, we should still be thankful to them because they brought us here on Earth not with the way Potpot and Jinky live their lives.
Life is funny. It is! I was really struck by watching that movie. I was struck about how amazing those two kids are. They are the ideal children. They settled for little things. They are contented with “sayote” as their meal. I sympathized what the young boy said in that movie. He said, “Even if we cannot have pretty clothes, even if we do not eat delicious food but as long as you are with us, I am contented and happy with it”. It simply implies that everyone of us can actually meet each contentment. Everything has to something to do with contentment. How pretty the heart of those two children are? When we have extra money, we buy our fads. When we have leisure times, we spend it with unproductive doings. How about allocating just a little amount of these for those who need? I realized big thing from out of the movie. I empathized and felt life''s unfairness to each individual. However, we can definitely live a life that is full of love and peace. That is through gratitude. Gratifying God for what we are and what we have now is essential. That is learning to live a life with contentment and be happy with it. There is no impossible ion this world as long as everyone believes. Our Endeavors will be more meaningful if we put contentment to our lives and leave it as what way it is.
