Can you imagine the time people all over the world spend just
waiting every year? People wait at the train station. They wait in line at the store or gasoline station. They also wait to see the Doctor, Dentist, Solicitor, and Counselor. It is estimated that Germans alone spends about 4.7 billions hour waiting yearly.
In our fast-paced world of today, waiting can be so frustrating. It is commonly belief that time is money. That been the case, a lot is lost waiting consistently. We do not have enough time to attend to all our necessary functions. Still we waste so much time in waiting especially in traffic jam, which has become daily occurrence in many cities of the world. Hence waiting has become a ‘fact of life’ in today’s world, is there any thing an individual can do to improve the situation?
Learn how to wait.

Many of us have experience being in a car with a driver who is constantly trying to get ahead of others. In most cases he is applauded if he succeeded in finding his way. He is also castigated if he fails in the process. In all, his inability to exercise patience is an indication that he has not learned how to wait.
Granted, the driver is solely responsible for the progress of the journey. What about other occupants? Learning how to wait would help to make good use of traffic jam. Learning how to wait may include envisaging being hook in traffic hold-up and making appropriate plan for it.
How can you prepare for traffic jam? One way is by having books, magazines, newspapers, with you while traveling. You could also use the time to finish some uncompleted jobs on your laptop if you have one. This will afford you the opportunity of making good use of the time that would have otherwise be wasted. Because reading at this time occupies your attention, it spares you many headaches that comes been in a traffic hold up.
Another way of learning how to wait is to recognize that there nothing you as an individual can do about the situation. Excessive worry will only aggravate your problem. If you concern yourself so much with the situation you may loose concentration when you eventually get to work. You may become unnecessarily angry with fellow workers, clients, patients, or customers. It may have serious effect on the way you do things for the rest of the day.
Most importantly, cultivate genuine love and empathy. How would you feel if others jump procedure to get ahead of you? You definitely would not like it. Therefore, do to others what you want them do to you. Apply these advices and the next time you find yourself in a traffic jam would not be so frustrating.
