St. Scholastica''s Academy, Tabunok, Talisay City, Cebu was founded in july 1965 by
Missionary Benedictine Sisters in response to the request of His Eminence Julio Cardinal Rosales, for a Catholic high school in the vicinity of Talisay. The site is located on a 1.5 hectare campus, about 100 meters from the national highway and around 10 kilometers south of Cebu City.
During the first school year 1965-1966, four very active and dedicated Benedictine Sisters and seven lay teachers started the Benedictine education to 234 first and second years students with
Sister M. Anselma Paler, O.S.B. as the first Superior-Principal. In March 1968, St. Scholastica''s Academy, Tabunok had its first graduates. The night high school opened during the school year 1972-1973 with initial enrolment of 99 students who were working students. The opening of the night department was to enable young working men and women in the area to avail of a high school education. However, with the opening of a public night high school in the locality, this was gradually phased out. School year 1997-1998 saw the last graduate of the night high school in SSA-Tabunok.
December 1980 was a milestone in the history of St. Scholastica''s Academy, Tabunok. It was during this time that it earned the distinction of being the first high school to be accredited by the
Philippine Accrediting Association of School, Colleges and Universties (PAASCU). Three years later, in August, 1984, the PAASCU valid until 1990. In March 1997 the school was re-accredited for another five years till 2002. The latest PAASCU visit in November 2003 re-accredited SSA-T for another five years valid until 2009. The school administration commends the efforts of the faculty, non-teaching staff the various organization particularly the PTA, for their untiring efforts and services, which have enhanced SSA''s educational apostolate.
In January 2000 Talisay became a city. At the influx of its urbanization, more schools flourished and were opened. Despite of this,
St. Scholastica''s Academy- Tabunok has stood the challenges of times.
