story—The New Jail Birds? (The Sunday Indian News Weekly) It has been the notion and tendency of politicians to break the law at anytime according to their whims and fancies, and then escape. Your cover story presented such top heroes or villains? No doubt the recent verdicts are the victory of the common man. The recent declaration of the Supreme Court that "the public servants former or present chief ministers, ministers and civil servants can be prosecuted against criminal acts without the mandatory sanction." At last our Judiciary has come to a point of fearless declarations and verdicts. Cheers!!! Judiciary did it. It has proved that even the mighty and powerful go out of the way there is a Big brother to look into it. It''s a lesson to the powerful law breakers in the helm of money and power. Muscle and money power can buy anything down or up, that is the law or rule of this largest democratic country all these years. Now there are changes taking place in these sectors. It should be a warning to all the others who are involved in such dirty political activities. The saddest part is that these powerful jail birds even though they are put in jail; still they get the ''A'' class facilities and treatment. Why can''t they be treated as criminals only like the other fellow inmates? Let them also realize the bitterness.
The illustration with the story was excellent, but still some figures like Former Kerala Chief Minister K. Karunakaran etc are miserably missed from the list.
