Motivation

Book Summary by: MKNanda

Original Author: Manoj Kr. Nanda
The very word " motivation" is so commonly used that despite being a vital factor
of modern life it has started losing
its significance, due chiefly to the fact that
we approach the idea of motivation in a complicated and rather-too-cryptic fashion.
We become so conscious that we start worrying about being motivated. This very word
echoes so much in our surrounding that we tend to forget its spontaneity.
Most of us suffer from a lifestyle disease called identity crisis which tempts
us like a troubled spirit and we start thinking of having recognition in the society
with a swell in the purse and a set of wheels. When we don''t have the so-called necessities
and luxuries of life we start thinking of growth. We tend to change jobs and explore
new areas and land up nowhere in search of satisfaction. It leads to a great sloth
and mars the possibility of motivation.
Motivation is that state of mind when we are driven by the highest degree of satisfaction in what
we do and are not conscious of beng paid attention to.It emanates from the very attitude we
carry along when we are performing the commonest of actions. We must try to yield the best possible
to our work if we desire a good harvest. It''s true that we need to deserve before we desire
but at the same time if we start evaluating ourselves it will not be a candid approach.
We fail to see what actually lies within our individual selves and instead of self assessment it
becomes an act of evaluation which focuses only on the negative aspects of an idea.
The true wisdom consists in making the best use of the present opportunities without indulging in
idle regrets of the past and the delightful visions of future as the former is irrevocable and the
later uncertain.
There was a cricketer who came to bat and no.07 and bowled at no.05. Somehow, in the initial two
years of his career his perfomance was not up to the mark. Each occasion he came to bat it was either
a duck or silly shot to make a lollypop for the fielder. When he came to bowl it was continuous hammering
over the rope and perennial drought of wickets. His came had watched all this for long and now
he was shown the way out. Next season he got another chance and this he didn''t want to lose.On the eve
of his ordeal he pondered over what had happened the last season and how he was asked to quit. This time
he made up his mind to use the thrasher and flail. At night he had a sound sleep as he was truly
determined to leave the world a better place. Before he went to bed he had a lot of shadow-boxing
and planned his strategy accordingly. Next morning he awkwardly demanded his captain to be allowed
to open the game. The captain was uncanny. He persuaded and went out in the centre to face one of the
best pace batteries of his time.It was an utter surprise for the crowd as every one in the stadium was
on toes when the very first ball of the innings saw the man having translated the his theories into
concrete practice.he ended up hitting a century off a very less number of balls. The very next day
the dailies gloried him in the highest. Now the whole world knows Sanath Jayasuriya.
The history of human civilisation is replete wuth such instances which make us believe that
motivation doesn''t require any external stimulation or encouragement. It comes from the idea of
gazing at the gleam and cleaving to the dream. It''s very important that we have faith in ourselves.
Scepticism is something that eats into our vitals like a contagious disease and hinders the birth
process of motivation. As God has bestowed each of us with some unique set of abilities
we ought to try exercising those so that we are creative.Being creative doesn''t necessarilly
mean being prductive.Every effort made by us is productive though we might nss the
output in the very first instance. What we see in the very first instance after an effort is
creativity which is nothing but adding newness to something. When we realise that we have been
able to add something it delivers satisfaction which furthers the cause of stimulation. Now there
is a big space for motivation which never ends.
Get up now and set yourself to work. What could be a better motivating factor than the fact that
you are creative. This is something which will lead you from commom to particular.
