The
Perfect Plan (Part 1) Frank Ruben peers out the window. The sky is clear and the stars seem within reach here at the top of the twenty-story building. Within reach like his dreams. Frank is an architect. After just a few years in the industry his innovative and unique designs propelled him into the big league and he started his own company. If only his personal life was as successful as his business ventures... He sips champagne in celebration of Ruben Towers, the stylish and modern office building he designed. The cream of the corporate world is gathered here this evening – admiring his architectural skills – while indulging in exotic hors d’oevres and imported French champagne. A string quartet performs popular classical pieces. He spared no expense. These people will no doubt attribute to future investments - so it is money well spent. He
glances across the room, and his gaze navigates its way through the
crowd to rest upon Patty. Ah, Patty in the revealing red
dress. He’s been having an affair with her for a while now. She awakened his senses, since his wife found comfort in money and other material things. Lisa Ruben is not at his side, as is expected of her. She is no doubt in conversation with a wealthy businessman, discussing anything but business. To the world Frank and Lisa Ruben is a happily married couple. It’s called pretend. After all, he has a reputation to uphold. A divorce on grounds of an affair would certainly be a blow to his perfect gentleman façade. When Patty sees him, he raises his glass as to toast this perfect moment. She is seductive and temptingly beautiful. Still mesmerized, his view is suddenly obscured. His friend, Ryan, is standing right in between him and the luscious Patty. Ryan joined the company the previous year – a fine architect himself. He proudly shakes Frank’s hand and seems honored doing so. “There you are, buddy! Where’ve you been hiding? You’re the star attraction, you know!” Frank smiles modestly at this remark. “Hardly,” he says very humbly. Ryan pats him on the shoulder. “You’re entitled to glow with pride, Franky! From one architect to another, I could not have done it better.” He laughs heartily. “Ruben towers is an evolution in office buildings. It paves the way for the future. Acquisitions…stakes…shares…Any of those ring a bell? Are you even listening to me?” Frank discreetly glances over Ryan’s shoulder at Patty, but she disappears into the crowd. Ryan notices Frank’s attention diverted. He follows his gaze, but notices another
woman in a glittery dress instead. He is openly enticed at the sight of the lovely young lady. Her figure is sculptured to man’s desire. Ryan is blown away. “Look at that piece of work!” he exclaims. “I wouldn’t mind tossing her between the sheets.” Unlike architectural design, tasteful conversation has never been one of his strong qualities. Frank merely raises an eyebrow. “Yes, indeed.” The young woman sees the men and confidently walks over, keeping her chin high – dignified. Ryan pokes Frank in the ribs. “She’s coming this way.” He tugs at his coat. Frank forces a smile as she joins them. “Hello darling.” Her voice is cold, but there’s a sparkle in her eyes as she looks to Ryan. “Good evening,” she smiles politely. Frank’s voice is equally cold. “Ryan, allow me to introduce you to Lisa. My wife.” Ryan chokes, spraying the young woman with champagne. He seems utterly embarrassed. “Wife? Pardon me! Pleased to meet you.” He coughs and clears his throat. “Now if you’ll excuse me,” Frank says throwing a glance at Lisa. “I have business to attend to.” Lisa keeps an eye on Frank until the crowd consumes him. “How original. Nice act. Iliked that.” She elegantly wipes her dress. “You messed on my Versace. I bought this in Paris on my honeymoon. Does he suspect anything?” Ryan discreetly glances back at Frank. “No. He has no idea.” His smooth edge suddenly paved way for a more sinister appearance.Lisa grins. “Excellent. We can proceed then.”
