The Future, what could it be? This is the kind of question that involves us all, we are all heading towards it at the same speed and we are all equally ignorant of the journey and of the outcome. However we can change the destination.
It is hard to grasp the future on any meaningful timescale, we after all talking about a journey towards a moving horizon. We never get closer than we are at this precise moment.
This blog wants your posts, your feeling and feedback on the type of future that you think we are heading for. It does not focus solely on technological materials, the social sciences will play and important part in all our future lives. How will we fairly distribute the new technologies that are coming along? How will governments cope with this major responsibility?
How will we vote, how will we travel, what fuels should we use, who will we worship, how will we earn a living, how will we be conceived, will robots ever to the ironing?
What does the future hold for our health care? Only today there was a major step forward on the holy grail of producing an artificial life form in a laboratory. We may all soon be living for hundred or thousands of years, is this in your opinion a good thing?
We hold no opinion on the matter but it is happening and it could affect every single person on earth. Should research like this be allowed or would you prefer to see it subject to more rigorous laws with tougher sanctions for those who break those laws.
Then we come to artificial intelligence; will we all be kept alive as pets for our super computer’s amusement? Will they treat us as pets or as food?
