We look to them for spiritual guidance. We listen to thier every word and accept it as law. They come with varying titles such as priest, rabbi, or minister. It is thier job to teach us what is God''s word and wants from us as mortals. Thusly we as humans do our utmost to obey the rules laid down. Then word of a bad deed comes out.
A handful of priests are accused of improper sexual behavior. Suddenly the dioceses are flood with with more cases filed against them. Stories of coverups and personnel being shifted from one area to another arises. It makes the image of the church only appear much more guilty. Soon clouds of darkness hover the entire Catholic church all the way to Rome. Where does the buck stop now?
Protestant ministers have affairs and lose respect of their parishioners. Divorces further taint them. Extreme cases result in murder. So just what is the point here?
Men of the cloth regardless of religion were born from a human seed. There was no immaculate conception. They are, as much as we sometimes don''t consider, Human. IT means they can and do make mistakes. Not all of the Catholic priests committed sins of sexual abuse. Not all of them behaved inappropriately. The ones who did acted like they did because they are not immortal and can make errors in judgment.
One person was perfect and he walked on water. Even then some say he did not always act as his profile would say so. We must remember that who we place on pedestals still have feet of clay.
