I have been to North Africa in 1970 and 1994 and on both occasions I had a stimilating time .. the first time I was in North
Africa the trek was prompted by my employer who kept asking me every weekend what I was doing either at the weekend or where I was going on my holidays. I got fed up and decided to spoof the answer and replied;
"Well, I am going to parachute over the Amazon and see the world!" Later that same year we went to North Africa and were the only people
writing poetry in the Sahara Desert at that point in time .........great English Poetry I assure you.
Nigeria is another part of Africa and my pal Jo was from there and is a Nigerian .. and he lodged in my home in Ireland for a time ... he was keen to tell me about Nigeria but
because of his workload in the city he didnt have the time so he introduced me to 24 Nigerian friends of his .. and they took it in turn to tell something about Nigeria! Notwithstanding Beauty Competitions, Miss World Competitions and of course Black Islam and Black Christianity .. I know something these days about Nigeria.
Second time I went to North Africa I took to shopping in the market as if it was my home base but I forgot the suncream and had to buy a hat ..
lovely memories create lovely writing .. keep on writing .
