power of spoken words

Article Summary by: gundu

Original Author: myself
"How singular is life!!"I had come across this phrase in a short story
7 years back,when i was in school.I remember
i was the one to raise my
hand and ask my english teacher what the phrase means. She
explained, life is unpredictable and even a single moment can bring a
tremendous change in one''''s life.I would wonder, how can a single moment
play such a great role in someone''''s life.
In the context of the story it was understood, but i could never
understand how it could happen in reality.I mean, just imagine, you are
sleeping on a bed of roses and you wake up in the morning and discover
there are thorns and thorns all around. Can this ever
happen? No,never!!Is this what you are feeling??I even felt the same
until August 14th,2005.True,that year,that day,that moment changed
everything.
I belong to a middle class family where my dad is the only earning
member and the entire family including my mother,my grandmother,me and
my three siblings, are dependent on him.He used to be the manager, mentor
and the master of home.We always feel blessed to have such a father who
could have even got the moon without a frown,if we had ever asked for
it.
My dad had lost his dad when he was just 10 years old and after that
there was none to care for him and wipe his tears and so my dad always
told us ever since our childhood, that he has cried enough in life and
has shed all our tears from his eyes.My dad worked from morning 7 till
12 at night without a break just to keep us happy.Never did he think of
himself.
14thwas a bright sunday. We had enjoyed the day and had a party at night
and my dad had his school reunion and was very excited. It was decided
that the next day my brother, the youngest, would go to his school by his
bicycle for the first time and my dad would escort him.
We were waiting for him to return and his friends got him in a car as
he was unwell. At 3 in the night,he was taken to the hospital. We thought
it was a minor acidity problem and he would return in n hour. But he
returned after 3 months and my brother waited all night expecting him
to return soon so that he could go to school the next day.It never
happened.
That night due to over excitement, there was a sudden rise in his blood
pressure and a vein had burst in the brain and a severe clot was
formed.That night changed everything.
The next day he was operated for 5 hours and the clot was removed. He
returned after 9 days,but was still in a trauma.He couldn''''t talk or
recognize us.Again a vein got blocked in the brain and a bypass surgery
had to be done. After 2 open brain surgeries,he went into coma for 2
months. He ate through nasal feeding and couldn''''t even sit on his own.
I am thankful to my mother who is a very courageous lady and an
optimistic person. She is solely responsible for my dad''''s recovery. We
strongly believe in the power of spoken words and so always spoke
positive things throughout those months. We kept complete faith in God
and celebrated each minute progress papa made. The first time he nodded
his head,responded to music,he looked up,uttered a word,etc.
We four stood for each other erect as a mountain, irrespective of any
circumstance and gave support to my mother who was in such a great pain
and doctors said it was a miracle that my papa came back to us!!
And we said,he had to come back because we needed him and had faith in Shirdi Sai Baba!!
Life changed entirely for our family. And we have accepted it with a
smile. We four have learnt to be responsible and take care of our
problems and deal with life in an independent manner because we know
its time to hold our dad''''s hand and be a support to him and help him
walk through busy and difficult roads of life since he was the one with
whom we took the very first step of our life.the best part is we always
thanked God for all the good things that happened with the recovery of
papa rather than complaining and grumbling.
I always believe in the magic of thinking
