Henri Ford started his life as a mechanic for a meager $2 a month when he was a little more than a boy! When
children of his age were going to schools, hew was working hard to earn a pittance of a sum. He could never go to school at all. He missed everything that an ordinary child takes for granted.
Rock Feller was as a little luckier. He could start with $4 a month! He too missed every pleasure of childhood and teenage and he too worked his way up and became very rich later.
Coming back to Henri Ford, after years of hard work he was promoted to a foreman’s post. He saved every penny he could by sacrificing so many simple pleasures of life.
Later, with the money he saved the very hard way, he started a small workshop and dreamt of starting a factory of his own..
Cars were just being produced. As a mechanic, he knew every part of an automobile and he started thinking about how he could improve each part and make it more comfortable.
“Why not I make a better car,? He started to think. Later it became an obsession.
He started his production n a very small way. In the course of time, with his bull dog
determination and imagination his factory started rolling out models people could not even imagine before and he became rich and famous..
He had labored a lot to produce his most famous model, a car with 8 cylinders cast into one block. His engineers had declared one and all that it was impossible.
“Go right ahead’” He commanded.
After 6 months he checked with them. But they had made no head way.
I want it and I will have it. Do the job even if it takes much more.
They had to ahead trying if they wanted to remain in his company.
And at last, as if by a stroke of magic the secret was discovered. Ford determination had won once gain.
Once Ford, sued a
newspaper which had dubbed him an ignoramus. The attorney for the newspaper tried to show he was ignorant by asking him a number of general knowledge questions Ford knew nothing about..
“How many soldiers were sent by Great Britain to crush the first American revolt?”
“I do not know the exact number but I do know that the number of them who went were much smaller.”
When the tirade of such nonsense questions continued, Ford told the attorney
“I would like to remind you that I have row of electric push buttons below my desk and by pressing the right button I can call the right person who will be able to answer any question of mine in relation to he business I spend my time on.”
Ford won the case. He was not an ignoramus but a very knowledgeable person who made this world a better place to live in.
After all formal education is not all that necessary to go up, you see. Anyone can.
