2008 seems to be the Democrat’s year. The Republican presidency is ending with the lowest poll ratings ever.
President Bush’s State of the Union address went unnoticed. 7 out of 10 Americans fell their country is on the wrong track. History was in the air as the Democrats are poised too seize back power, maintain both Hillary and Obama. There is shared desire between the two leading candidates to boot the
Republicans.
At the white house on the January 20 the new president will have host of failed problems to be sorted out.
.
The economy is tottering. More jobless are added every day. The median income of the American families has come down by about $1000!
The Democrats are energized and there has been good turn out in the primaries. Young voters are queuing around the blocks to get in. There is an euphoria not witnessed this massively before. Even the pollsters have found that the Democrats have a handsome lead.
Both the Democratic front runners are strong individuals and strong candidates. At this time John McCain is the front runner But there are many who feel that a McCain candidacy is going to ruin the Republican party. He arouses a lot of fury around. He is soft on illegal immigration and his bill on climate change is not well by the public.
The right has already lambasted Mr. McCain for not voting President Bush’s tax cut measures of for seeking restrictions on guns. ( We do not forget that this makes the senator appealing to the moderates). This former war hero and POW has a lot of appeal to the middle path. Of course he is s serious hawk on foreign policy an unwavering advocate of Iraq war. The green follower Mr. Gore is no in his camp too. Further, Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama are tearing oneself apart. While each of them will have to tailor a message for the Democrats alone, Mr. McCain can concentrate on the entire
electorate as his nomination is almost certain. It is up to the Democrats to choose a candidate decisively and prepare for the entire electorate
The republicans are by and large supporting the Iraq war. They condemn social programs like universal coverage as wasteful spending.
On war the electorate stand firmly in opposing it and a majority want a withdrawal from it in an year. Mr. McCain is totally against this position. He wants American presence to continue for a hundred years!.
. The occupation has not unearthed any weapon of mass destruction. It has not certainly contained the Al Qaeda. It has broken up Iraq and given a victory to Iran. It has been a total fiaco and it may doom the Republicans.
Both Hillary and Obama are strong characters. Hillary is an woman and Obama and African American –both with a lot mass appeal to specific sections. .
In the present circumstances it is best to suggest a Democrat as the occupier of the white house in 2009.
