THE NIGERIAN DREAM

Article Summary by: Cheekah

Original Author: IBEMERE CHEEKAH J.P
I remember the day i received the news that my friend,Pius
is planning to travel abroad any moment to further  his education.I was happy and sad at the same time when i received the news.I was happy because he is making a bold step towards his life to further his education and sad because of the sole reason that he is joining the bandwagons of Nigerians lost to the western world, the so-called industrialized nation and i wept inwardly for my country ,Nigeria. My friend,Pius is about to pursue the Ukranian dream(for that is the country of his destination):quite regrettably, the average Nigeria do not dream the Nigerian dream            It is note-worthy that the average American talks, walk, sleep, drink and walk the American dream-other countries are even conversant with the American dream-thus, its reason for its position as a world-power can not be far-fetched.An average American wants the best for their country,,they will do all within their power to uphold the unity, growth and development of their beloved country and i put it to the individual reading this essay:do you have the staunch patriotism that is innate- or even acquired via orientation-in the average American, the average European, even when things are not going on fine in your country?Do you?The average American doesn''''t bank on the government to acieve their goals for them, to fulfill their dreams, their aspiration but they achieve their goals through their personal efforts, well laid-up principles and discipline. This makes the country to be among the most industrialized nation and this achievement ,thus, attracts the the average Nigerian''''s dream while searching for their "greener pastures" over there,Africans ditto. They want to have the taste of the good life of God''''s own country, they want to transcend to a place of retinue of smooth roads, uninterrupted power supply, beautiful infrastructure but they forget too soon that these afforementioned achievements and others were embarked upon by an individual(s),who wants to serve his country, serve humanity. It was embarked upon by an individual(s) who had a dream for his coun, thus uplifting his country''''s,they don''''t wait on the government always to come to their beck and call all the time. The famous quote:"Think not what your country can do for you,but what you can do for your country" was  made by the famous American president ,J.F Kennedy in his famous inaugural speech. He believed in the self-actualisation of one''''s dream. Thus i pose this thoughtful question to you readers(and please ruminate over this, even after reading this write-up):What effort(s) have you you made to make your country great, successful,a force to reckon with worldwide?
So friends, while thinking about this ,let me tell what effort i have made:Mere believing that my country,Nigeria, is going to and will be great is enough effort .I believe that my beloved country is going to be among the most industrialized country.Keep on dreaming!!!I can almost hear the pessimistic voice but i''''m undaunted by the faith i have in my country,Nigeria.I believe that it is feasible and possible if and only if the average Nigerian, readers ditto should start dreaming the Nigerian dream(think of your country and start dreaming the dream e.g the Indian dream, the Ghanian dream, the French dream e.t.c)the dream that everything is going to be blissful through our individual effort and collective effort. The government should not take all the blames for the past decadence in our various country. You are the best that God has ever made:all we need to do is to search ourselves, discover our gifts, talents and potentials and try to be creative with it for the good of our beloved country. It must be stressed at this point that i am n
