Politics refers to the way in which people are governed, organized in a society. People who practice it are called politicians. Moreover, because it involves many tricks in winning that is why many people refer to it as a game. The goal in this Game is taking over power i.e. in the case of a military government power is taken by a barrel of a gun or coup.
However, for our case, which we are, going to focus more on a democratic way of taking over power. Moreover, this is through casting a vote democratically. This tight game starts in the campaigning session.
You know most of the candidates have to be nominated before being approved to stand in any position .The nomination commission sets laws and guide lines for choosing and selecting out candidates.
In some states, it is required for one to be educated at least at college level to be nominated. Other requirements might be must be married regally, must be a tax payer, must belong to a religious group accepted in that region, must present a police clearance that he is a good citizen never charged with murder, floppy any other high profile cases.
Moreover, one may also be required to be a citizen by birth of that region any many others depending on the region.
Many people comment on these nomination guidelines, terms, and conditions, as a way to eliminate a certain class of people, which they say, is not good. Because in a state they are different groups of people who are supposed to be represented. The guidelines and terms should be made basing on the groups and classes of people in that region.
People add on, different people have different needs according their region of origin. Therefore, only those people who are part of their groups will understand their needs are the ones who are supposed to represent them.
After the nomination period has been finished, then comes the campaigning session. In this session, the candidates are supposed to go out tell the people what they are going to offer them in terms of services after they have been elected. Usually these people have drawn road maps and called them manifestos. These manifestos clearly show their proposed plans and the way of delivering services to the public after being elected in power.
Apart from telling people what they are going to do for them, they have a tendency of sabotaging their rivals in their campagns. They try to inform the voters that their rivals are not reliable ,doesn’t deliver as promised, mess –up things and when voted he will be a total disappointment. Some times this is not right but they just want to win the confidence of the voters that they are the only ones suitable for that position.
Some of the incumbents use state machinery like vechicles, money and on the expense of the pubic service resources .This is not fair since it creates an imbalance in the campaigns.
There are many tricks in this game that are vogue but people play them in order to win power and confidence of the voters. This thus makes politics not a fair game at all.
